Donation Opportunities
We rely completely on donations to the WHS Foundation to fulfill our mission of improving the quality of education at Woodside High School.
All donations are tax-deductible. Contributions in any amount are gratefully appreciated. You can donate online on this page via PayPal or download a donation form to send to the WHSF.
Donations can be made to:
The General Fund
The General Fund provides our source of annual funding for critical current needs, curriculum enrichment, staff development and beginning in 2009, reduced class sizes in core subjects. Applications for these funds are received from staff, administration, and are reviewed by the Principal, the Instructional Vice Principal and the Foundation board.

WHS Endowment

The WHS Endowment is a special fund dedicated to supporting ongoing programs that enrich the academic environment for students of all levels. Income from the fund is intended to provide long-term financial support for reduced class sizes in core subjects and programs with proven track records that have lost their funding due to State and/or District budget cuts.

Directed Funds
These are contributions earmarked for a specific project, program, teacher or department. The Foundation makes sure these funds are made available for the use or person/department specified.
To make a directed donation, please download and complete the donation form, specify the department, teacher, and/or project that you wish to support, and return it to the Foundation at the address at the top of the form.
We also welcome donations of securities and encourage employer matching grants. Please contact Jayne Smith at 650-368-9900 or treasurer@whsfoundation.org for help with these transactions.
Donate Securities
Gifts of stock are always welcome, and the benefits of giving appreciated securities are significant. By donating stock rather than selling it, you can avoid potential capital gains taxes, In addition, you may receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift (assuming you have held the stock longer than 12 months). Please consult with your tax adviser to determine your tax savings.
Securities can be easily transferred from the donor’s account to the Foundation’s brokerage account:
- Follow this link to the attached instructions to Broker.
- Fill in the appropriate information regarding the shares you wish to gift.
- Check with your broker to see if they require a signature guarantee.
- Mail a copy of the letter to the Foundation so we can track your gift.
